My favourite fashion films:

The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

This classic film follows Andy (Anne Hathaway) a young graduate trying to pursue her career as a writer however, she ends up as an assistant for the ruthless Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), editor in chief of Runway a well-known fashion magazine empire. For Andy to succeed as a writer she must prove herself at his high standard job for one year to move on with her dream of being a journalist. Along the way she loses track of what is most important to her, and must make a decision for herself and her career.

This is one of my favourites of all time! the character development is suprising and I love how it is filmed in New York one of the top fashion capitals of the world. If you like gossip girl like me, you’ll love this. The fashion is bold and the settings are immaculate, you get an understanding of what these jobs are like, hard-working you need to sacrifice a lot but in the end, the opportunities are amazing.

Now if you have seen this cinematic masterpiece you’ll get were I’m coming from or this could be considered a controversy when I say, Andy’s friends were not supportive of her job at runway when she actually enjoyed it throughout the film. Her character starts out clueless about the fashion industry and just wants this job to succeed at her journalism journey. Although there is a turn of events when Andy must put in the efforts to prove herself. It is portrayed in the film that she loses herself but in my eyes she was rather fond of her job which she worked hard for. I believe that people were to quick to judge her when she was only trying to make the best out of a year at a job she thought was not right for her. When evidently Andy gained Miranda’s trust and somewhat of her respect.

Nevertheless, this is a film that you need to watch if you love the fashion scene. Leave a comment below if you think Andy lost herself or if you think she liked her job?

Thanks for reading goddesses,
