Flare Jeans

Denim in general has been a high staple to the fashion industry, and since 1873 when Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis created the first pair of denim jeans where they turned denim, thread and a little metal into what has become the most popular apparel on earth. Now they hold the extremely well-known brand Levi’s, which to this day continues to satisfy our denim needs.

Flared jeans were first worn in the 1960s and associated a lot with celebrities Cher and Sonny. They where really embraced in the 1970s, this genderless jean has a silhouette fitted at the waist and flared at the bottom of the jean, hence the name. This style has faded in and out of fashion endlessly and to no surprise, is popular in trend again.

In my opinion, the flare jean style is one of the most flattering, they have the effect to elongate your legs allowing you to appear taller and give you a lovely shape. Similar to boot cut jeans only with an exaggerated flare normally widened from the end of the knees to your ankles. They are my favourite type of jeans to wear because, to me they will always hold that history of 1970s charm know matter what time period I wear them in.

You can easily dress them up or wear them casually, so do whatever you feel looks right and roll with it. There are hundreds of possibilities including colours to different fits, mabey you want a slimer fit more of a boot cut style? Or you want something eye catching like dramatic bell bottoms? Patchwork demin is in a lot at the moment. Just experiment and have fun.
