Baguette bags👜

Baguette bags have taken over these past few months, being the number one statement to accessorise with. They can easily transform an outfit and take it to the next level with their small form, the more patterns and colour the bolder the look. These statement bags have made a huge comeback from the 90s reinventing themselves to a larger scale audience, I’m sure if you open any form of social media you’ll see them. That is simply because it’s a hot trend, but what if they almost didn’t exist?

Baguette bags first made an appearance back in he 90s when Fendi released the first baguette bag in fashion history. However, they might have been held off if it were not for Silvia Venturini Fendi insisting to go forward with the release. when Silvia Fendi showcased her design to Fendi headquarters not everyone was fond of the idea due to their small statue not being able to hold much, Fendi colleagues thought they wouldn’t sell. Nevertheless in 1997 Fendi released the first baguette bag and it couldn’t have been more popular, the smart but dainty bag has been the arm candy of choice for Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City and Madonna

I love to see fashion repeating itself from growing up surrounded by old magazines and tv shows in the era that these bags started in, it’s exciting to see this generation make it our own. As the aesthetic ”y2k” catches on it’s amazing to look back at when it first began. These bags can be found on depop, asos, urban outfitters and more. They are simple yet a crucial staple that you should have in your wardrobe.
